What do we have to take into account for a ceiling fan with light?

There are areas of a house in which it is sufficient to move the air to cool the room. So installing a ceiling fan is an ideal option, also if we tell you that there are models that include a functionality for winter becomes an option with many more possibilities.

It is clear that the design of our fan is important, probably the most important in the final decision. It will help us to opt for one model or another, but we must not forget some of the features that we will tell you below.

Size and power: the size and power of our fan will depend largely on the size of our room, the larger the size of the room we will need a more powerful fan and with a larger diameter, the most common sizes are: 75cm, 106cm, 122cm and 132cm.

The number of blades is also important, the greater the number of blades the greater the volume of air moved.

We must also take into account the height of the ceiling from the floor of our room to choose a suitable fan height.

If we are going to use the fan both to ventilate and to illuminate, we must take into account that a fan is not intended to illuminate a room and its power is reduced, although there are models with several light sources that can illuminate our entire room.

Today we have three options when choosing how to control our fan:

- By remote control.

- Making use of the chains hanging from the center of our product.

- By placing a switch on the wall of our room.

We all know the operation and purpose of a fan in summer (clockwise movement), but there are also fans that move in counterclockwise direction and produce a feeling of warmth. Unfortunately not all fans have this option and those that include it tend to be somewhat more expensive, but it is certainly a good option when it comes to saving money with the electricity bill in winter and summer.

If we are looking for a fan that will help us save on our electricity bill, we must take into account that there are two types of motors; direct current (DC) motors and alternating current (AC) motors. The main advantages of DC motors over AC motors are their low power consumption and their ability to operate at low speeds, which makes them even quieter. Their disadvantage is that they are more expensive than AC motors.
