IHANA pendant/ceiling lamp - Marset

IHANA pendant/ceiling lamp designed by Joanna Laajisto and manufactured by the Spanish firm of Marset.

The serene shapes of the Ihana draw a silhouette of light. This lighting system is composed of several opal blown glass diffusers that are light to the eye, appear ductile and contrast with the firmness of the metal structure that determines its shape and holds it to the ceiling.

With the purpose of providing ambient light for any classic or contemporary interior design project, this collection permits creating light compositions thanks to the fact that its structure can be extended to include up to 14 diffusers connected to a single point of light. It is available in different sizes to also illuminate spaces with high ceilings. In addition, the Ihana incorporates dim to warm technology that not only allows the intensity of the light to be regulated but also its colour temperature to vary from a warm white (3000K) to an ultra warm white, simulating candlelight (1800K).

Often a design is born out of necessity. Ihana, Finnish for "exquisite", is one of them. Its author, architect Joanna Laajisto moved her studio to a 19th century building in Helsinki and could not find a lamp that would fit in her new offices. In search of the beauty of light, she created a sculptural lamp defined by its pure, almost graphic forms and the balance between rigidity and delicacy. Ihana is a synthesis of contrasts that brings together opposing colours, the black metal structure and the white diffusers, and old and new nuances. A contemporary and timeless design that its designer wants to remain over time and form part of those stories in which nobody remembers what year it was designed.
