THE W pendant lamp - Marset

THE W pendant lamp designed by PerezOchando and manufactured by the Spanish firm of Marset.

Spreading the light or gathering it. The new design by the PerezOchando studio proposes a large-format, flexible lamp, devised to adapt to the different lighting needs in large spaces.

A vertical black structure is the central axis from which several rods emerge, some of which can be moved upwards to expand the light and others downwards to shrink it. All of them have a suspended spotlight that projects a downwards directed light with a very wide and sharp beam of light. The different cylindrical spotlights - with an inner ring available in ivory, terracotta or gold - spread the light evenly.

This decorative lamp, with a very graphic profile that is easy to outline, is inspired by the old winding machine: an instrument used to wind thread or wire around a shaft to form a ball of yarn. Its authors Pedro Ochando and Claudia Pérez are not interested in the function of this accessory, but in its shape, which allows vertical movement with a horizontal effect.

A light, sober and functional design with a lot of presence that can vary in size - up to 2 metres in diameter - for a large space or fold in on itself to confine itself to a smaller area. The designers say that the sense of magnitude felt when standing under the lamp is like standing under an illuminated dome. The most important thing is that, whatever its size, it always provides exceptional ambient lighting.
