MVV pendant lamp designed by Manuel Valls Vergés and manufactured by the Spanish company Marset.

The history of the MVV begins in the 1970s. This new pendant lamp was designed by Manuel Valls Vergés, one of the most important architects of the time in Spain, a partner of Jose Antonio Coderch for 15 years and with whom he carried out - among others - such important projects as the Ugalde house near Barcelona.

The name MVV responds to the acronym of his name to claim his authorship. This is what his grandson - also an architect - and the collaborators of his studio Two-bo wanted. Pablo, María and Alberto have rescued this lamp 45 years later. Marset acts as a hinge in time, taking the original design - an octagon with overlapping blades - and updating it by giving it a double skin: cherry wood on the outside of the blades and white on the inside to optimise the quality of the light. The original measurements -45 cm- are respected and the interior structure, which was originally made of iron, is now also made of polycarbonate to make it lighter. With wood as the material, the MVV achieves exceptionally warm lighting.

A sober, rational, eminently geometric lamp that is like a construction game in which direct downward light coexists with indirect light filtering through its slats. A design that, despite being timeless, responds to the constructive logic of the time and brings to mind a wealth of memories and references.
