ZENC pendant lamp designed by Joan Gaspar and manufactured by the Spanish company Marset.

The design of the Zenc is inspired in the water tanks on the roofs of New York buildings. This is the starting point taken by the author, a contemporary form that refers to industrial aesthetics.

A shade 44 cm in diameter and 28 cm in height surrounds the light source. On the outside, its texture enriches the volume and generates surprise. It seems to be made of metal, specifically zinc, a material traditionally linked to industrial warehouses. So much so that even the joints protrude. However, it is made of two-layer rotomoulded polyethylene. Its interior is coated with a white layer so that the light bounces, grows and is exceptional. And therein lies the contrast: on the outside it is available in various colours - blue, grey, white, red, pale pink or pale yellow - while the inside is always white.

A simple design reminiscent of a circular house, an archetype of essential shapes that also work in combination with each other, in different heights and colours, to offer multiple lighting possibilities.

Walking around New York means looking up, wanting to discover where the skyscrapers end. On his last trip to the city, Joan Gaspar looked up at the rooftops of New York and there, when he saw the water tanks, he found the form of this new proposal. A singular element that forms part of the city's skyline. A sign of identity that has belonged to the city since the beginning of the 19th century and it is surprising not only that they are still there, but also that they are still in place and still perform their function.
