SCANTLING table lamp designed by Mathias Hahn and manufactured by the Spanish firm Marset.

Scantling is based on a highly functional and flexible system in which all the movements of the lampshade, with full rotation, are resolved by means of ball joints and arms to create a versatile light that is easy to move. Moreover, its technical precision requires no visible springs or counterweights to maintain the chosen position.

Scantling refers to a wooden strip that was once used as a unit of measurement, especially in shipbuilding. Its assembly is reminiscent of a construction set and its profile resembles a silhouette of light, an archetypal, almost graphic design.
