For designers George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg, design is about telling stories. This is the case with their new proposal Konoha, a wall lamp with a double function that explains -and resolves- the different types of lighting that we need around us. From curiosity and analysis, they take into account many variables, above all those that connect with emotions; light is probably the most intimate element of an environment and its design must be comprehensive, functional and have a purpose.

The architectural firm Yabu Pushelberg - world-renowned for its many hospitality projects - finds that in hotel rooms, lighting is often redundant. In the same room there is a need for both direct lighting and ambient lighting and so they decided to combine both functions in a single design.

The result is a simple, unobtrusive wall light with a shade that houses a spotlight that can be moved through 360 degrees. The shade, like a hat, covers the spotlight and allows the light, when directed upwards, to bounce inside it and project a soft beam of light, creating a warm ambient illumination. At the same time, if the light source is directed downwards, it projects direct light and becomes a reading lamp. The Konoha design is available in different colours, neutral and organic tones that fit in different spaces. It works as a reading lamp in a living room, any bedroom or hotel room. It also works as a light point for transit areas, as a wall lamp in restaurants or as ambient lighting in the entrance of a hotel.

Konoha invites you to interact with the light, to use it at every moment, and to have double, or perhaps multiple functions.

The ON/OFF switch is located at the base of the structure.
